About
North Carolina State Parks has been a part of the 1st Day Hikes nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks since 2013. The goal is to get kids and adults all across North Carolina outdoors and active on January 1st in a beautiful park setting with the hope that they will continue to do so throughout the year. This is the second year of the 1st Day 5K at Haw River State Park. The race will take place on the newest trail to open at the park on the new 800 acre section off of Church Street. Proceeds will go to the Friends of Haw River State Park and help with educational programming.
