Running Series News:
The Trivium Running Series has hit its twilight. No, no, not the end of the series! But our next two events will be starting at dark! Both the Greensboro Distilling Bootlegger 5K on June 4th and the Moonlight Bootlegger Trail 5K on July 9th start at dark and are guaranteed to be a great way to race in the hot summer months. The current Running Series age group standings are hotly contested so far this year, make sure you know where you stand before the next races by clicking here.
The Trivium Running Series has a lot of familiar and fast faces in the top slots. Shannon Scott, the 2015 Series Champ, has shaken off an early season injury and is looking primed to hold onto that title in 2016. Currently Fleet Feet Streaker, Kyle Story, sits in second place, only 300 points behind, but hasn’t taken advantage of beating Shannon in head to head matchups. Andrew Wommack is in position to round out the top three, but there are 5 individuals from across the state as far as Ft. Bragg to Boone in position to take away the final overall spot from him.
On the women’s side, Tara Wommack (get used to seeing this name), has doubled the closest competitors’ points after winning three out of four of the events she has competed in. Tara looks poised to never write Trivium another check as she is also winning the Race the Bar Series! Hey Tara, any interest in triathlons? In second place, sits last year’s champion, Shannon Bradford. After a long 2015 season, Shannon is still moving fast, although competing in fewer events. This makes the competition for 2nd and 3rd place very interesting as only 350 points separate each of the competitors in 2nd place to 10th place in the current standings.
Up Next:
The next race in the Trivium Running Series will be The Greensboro Distilling Bootlegger 5K, starting at 9pm on June 4th. This speakeasy-themed 5K with live music and cocktails made with locally distilled liquor from the brand new Greensboro Distilling Co will definitely shake up the series standings. You have to register in order to get the password into this exclusive nighttime event!
Next, Trivium will again hit the trails with the fourth annual Moonlight Bootlegger Trail 5K on July 9th. This is a Trivium Original and you will not be disappointed! Come on out with a headlamp or flashlight and rock the trails at Hagan Stone Park just after dark (look out for Yetis). Once you make it through the woods, we will have a custom mason jar filled up with a moonshine cocktail for you to sip as you relax to the acoustic stylings of The Zinc Kings under the light of the stars.
