Northeast Duathlon – Race Profile

The time has come to prepare for another great year for athletes everywhere. For three years, Northeast Park has been home to Trivium Racing’s first race in the Triad Duathlon Series. The Northeast Duathlon offers multisport athletes an early year challenge that is sure to get anyone’s motor going.

Northeast Park is located just northwest of Elon University in Gibsonville, North Carolina. This 374 acre park is filled with everything that a visitor could want. Whether it is the 10 miles of trails that travel through the property, the pool at the center of the park, or even a working carousel. This park and the roads around it offers a scenic look at the Gibsonville area.

The athletes use the 8/10 mile walking path, which circles inside the park, as their run course. This path is run twice on a flat, smooth area that allows you to get a great look at what the park has to offer. Meanwhile, the bike portion is a looped course on the low traffic roads of Gibsonville. A few crossings of the Reedy Fork creek and rolling hills give athletes a challenging 10 mile bike ride. The ride has you exit the park and travel down High Rock Road where athletes will make their way to NC 61. The rolling hills of NC 61 will lead to a left onto Huffine Mill Road. Huffine Mill road will give you the most exciting downhill and most difficult uphill. Things will begin to look familiar once you’ve reached High Rock Road again, as the course will bring you back into the park.
