Hamilton Lakes 10k – Race Profile

Once every year, the slow rumble of hundreds of hooves rings through the quiet neighborhood of Hamilton Lakes. Like a shimmering beacon in the mid-afternoon sun, Trivium Racing’s great arch proudly heralds the coming of the Hamilton Lakes 10k. And so it will be, once more, this year…

Hamilton Lakes Park, originally created in the 1920’s to be a neighborhood of expensive houses was actually its own town. Since Greensboro annexed the town in 1957, Hamilton Lakes Park has become a gem of the Greensboro running community, and one of the most picturesque and relaxing neighborhoods in the city. Nice houses, miles of dirt running paths, tree groves, and of course, Lake Hamilton will be your scenery in this year’s 10k. The neighborhood sees very light traffic on the roads, though you’ll probably see plenty of passersby walking the lake paths with a friend or pet.

Hamilton Lakes' gorgeous scenery.

The course itself is 2 loops, each 5 kilometers. The race’s start/finish line will be in the same place, located on Lake Hamilton, just past the bridge on E Keeling Rd. The course heads southeast down Henderson Rd, parallel to the stream that flows from Lake Hamilton. This back half of the course has some gentle ups and downs, as runners dip past Starmount Forest Country Club’s golf course. The return journey is much flatter, as runners  traverse alongside Hamilton Lakes Park once more, up Starmount Dr to the start/finish line, marking the halfway point, and one of two loops completed. Runners will have the opportunity to grab water & gatorade at four points along the 10k course. The 5k has been removed this year.

Last year's youngest winner, with his award!

The post-race area features pizza, drinks, music, and an awards ceremony. Consistent with many Trivium Racing events, awards will surely be unique! Shirts will be a tech shirt or soft cotton quality. Early packet pickup will be held at Fleet Feet Greensboro on Friday. Day-of packet pickup will also be available at the start/finish area.
