It’s time to hit the streets of downtown Grand Rapids for the final event of the Beer Flight Running Series – Bar Crawl! We have carefully selected 5 local bars/breweries to be the stops along your course. You must make your way to each one and then meet us at the finish line to be in the running for awards, but how you get there is up to you! Check out all the event details below-
Your InfoPlease double check that your information is correct. If anything needs to be changed, you can edit your registration here.
Important Dates and TimesRace Day – Sunday, August 6
Directions and ParkingThe start and finish line will be at the Knickerbocker (417 Bridge St NW, Grand Rapids). Parking will be available in any public lot, as well as on side streets in the area. Please leave enough time to find parking and get to the start line on time! Course DetailsThe best part about this race (besides the beer) is that you get to select your own route to make it from bar to bar! However, if that’s too much thinking for you, we will have two suggested routes that will be marked with stickers on the sidewalk if you would like to follow one of those. One will start by heading north and the other will start heading south. We will send out those courses later this week. Here are the bars you must stop at along the course to be eligible for awards:
Each bar will be marked with balloons as well as a sticker on the sidewalk outside. This additional map shows you where each bar is located along the course. The only rules to this event are that you must remain on-foot the whole way through the course (no Uber allowed!), that you must obey all traffic laws, and that you must at least check in with the volunteer and get your sticker at each location, even if you don’t drink the beer. This course will not be closed to traffic, so please keep that in mind and be safe. If you will be on the course after dark, wear safety gear so that you are visible to vehicles. You will be given a sticker for your bib when you check in at each bar so that we know you made it through. If you don’t have all the stickers when you make it to the finish line, we will assume you skipped a stop and you won’t be eligible for awards. The beer will be served at a designated location within each bar. A volunteer will direct you to where to get your beer. You will not be able to redeem your beer ticket other than at the designated area. You must drink your beer on-site, either inside the bar or in the designated area outside. No taking the beer to go! The BeerYou will receive one beer at each stop along the course, including the start/finish line. You can either stop and drink your beer at each bar (chug it or stick around and sip it – your choice) or you can check in and get your sticker and move on without the beer. If you opt to skip the beer on the way through the first time, you will have until 10:00pm to go back and enjoy your beer after you finish. Your bib will have beer tickets attached along the bottom. Each ticket is for a different bar so you can only use one per bar. You must have your bib on and turn a ticket in to get your free beer. You must drink your beer at the bar – Grand Rapids doesn’t allow open containers on the street and we don’t want anyone getting arrested! AwardsWe will have 3 different categories for awards this year – Racing, Running and Drinking, or Crawling. You selected your category during online registration (see above for your selection). For the Racing category, we will award traditional running-race awards based on fastest male and female finishers overall and in each age group. For the Running and Drinking category, you are still running for time, but are actually stopping to drink the beer at each bar as well. For the Crawling category, you have elected to take your time while making your way from bar to bar and enjoying the beer along the way. For these last two categories, we will be awarding the top 3 finishers in each category. If you would like to switch your category, you may do so by Saturday at midnight by clicking here. The most important thing about this event is to have fun and be safe! We’ll be waiting at the finish line to celebrate with you whether you ran it, walked it, or crawled it! |
